Mussoorie has a beautiful nature walk known as "Camel's Back Road". This road takes its name from mountain outcrop in the shape of a camel's hump.
There is also "Gun Hill" where cannons were kept for the defense of Mussoorie.
Mussoorie also had India's largest roller skating rink.

Mussoorie Lake Mist
About 5 km before Kempty falls on the Mussoorie-Kempty road is a newly developed good picnic spot with accommodation and restaurant facilities, boating is also available.

Mussoorie Municipal garden
It is picnic spot having a beautiful garden and an artificial mini lake with paddled boating facility. It is located at a distance of 4 km by rickshaw cycles, pony or by a car and 2 km via Waverly Convent School road on foot.

Mussoorie lake
A newly developed picnic spot build by City Board & Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority, is situated at 6 km on Mussoorie-Dehradun road having a facility of pedaled boats. It offers a enchanting view of Doon Valley and nearby villages. View during Night is marvelous.

Highest peak of Mussoorie near Lal Tibba, it is situated at 5 km from the Tourist Office and one can go on horse back or on foot. The view of snow-clad mountains is exhilarating.

Mussoorie Gunhill
A honeymooning couple find some romantic moments on top of Gunhill, MussourieBhatta Falls7 km from Mussoorie on Mussoorie-Dehradun Road near Bhatta Village. Accessible by car or bus up to Bhatta from where the fall is 3 km by foot. A fall with different ponds for bathing and water amusements, ideal place for picnic.

Mussoorie Jharipani Fall
Located at 8.5 km from Mussoorie on Mussoorie-Jharipani road. One can go by local bus or car up to Jharipani from where the fall is about 1.5 km on foot.

Mussoorie Mosey Fall
The fall is surrounded by a dense forest and is 7 km from Mussoorie. One can go there via Barlowganj or Balahisar.

Mussoorie Sir George Everest House
Park Estate is where the building and laboratory of the first Surveyor-General of India 1830 to 1843, Sir George Everest, after whom world's highest peak Mt. Everest is named, remains.It is 6 km from Gandhi Chowk and vehicle can go right up to the place. The place provides an enchanting view of Doon Valley on one side and view of Yamuna Valley and snowbound himalayan ranges on the other. An ideal place for picnic and trekking.

Mussoorie Nag Devta Temple
An ancient temple dedicated to Snake God Lord Shiva and is situated on Cart Mackenjee road is about 6 km from Mussoorie on way to Dehradun. Vehicles can go right up to the temple. This place provies a enchanting view of Mussoorie and Doon valley.


Mussoorie and Landour, 1860sJwalaji Temple (Benog Hill)
Situated at an altitude of 2104 m is 9 km west of Mussoorie. It is situated on the top of the Benog Hill surrounded by thick forest having an old ideal of Goddess Durga provides a marvelous view of Yamuna Valley.

The resort is surrounded by thick deodar forest. The bungalow built in 1838 by a British major was one of the first four buildings of Mussoorie has now been converted into a hotel. The place provides peace and calm and is full of flora and fauna.

At a distance of about 2 km on Tehri bypass road, this place is developed as picnic spot and has a park surrounded with pine forest and flowering shrubs, and is approachable by foot or taxi/car. The main attraction is the wildlife of the park like Ghurar, Kakar, Himalayan peacock, Monal etc.

Mussoorie Benog Mountain quail sanctuary
11 km to the south of library point lies an old sanctuary established in 1993 and covering an area of 339 hectares. It is famous for the extinct bird species Mountain Quail (Pahari Bater), which was last spotted in 1876.

Mussoorie History


The history of Mussoorie dates back to 1825 when Captain Young, an adventurous British military officer, together with a Mr. Shore, the resident Superintendent of Revenues at Dehradun explored the present site and jointly constructed a shooting lodge.The name Mussoorie is often attributed to a derivation of 'mansoor', a shrub which is indigenous to the area. The town is in fact often referred to as 'Mansoori' by locals.

Form for passport


Application Form No. 1
Form No. 1 is to be used for Fresh/ Reissue/Replacement of Lost/Damaged passports/ Change of Name/ Appearance/ Exhaustion of pages . The same application form is used for passports for minors as well.

New passport means applying for a passport for the first time or applying for a passport if you have never held any passport earlier. In case an application was ever made at any Passport Office prior to the present application and whether the application was processed or closed, or even if passport was issued and not received by the applicant, details thereof should be given in the relevant column in the present application. Failure to disclose these details, if any, would invite applicable penalty.

Reissue means an application for another passport in lieu of an existing one which has either expired or is about to expire. An applicant may apply for a new passport in lieu of an expired/ about to expire passport upto 3 years after and 1 year before the expiry of the Passport. Re-issue of passport should not be mistaken for renewal of passport. Renewal of passport means that a passport which was originally issued for a short validity of one to five years - under certain emergency conditions on the part of the applicant - is now required to be extended to its full validity of ten years from the date of issue of the passport. (Renewal is a zero fee service and the application should be made in Form No. 2).

A New passport is issued in lieu of a lost/damaged passport.

Application Form No. 2 is for making application for Police Clearance Certificate, Deletion of ECR Stamp, Inclusion of Spouse's name and change of address. The same Form is used for renewing a short term validity passport to its full term validity.

Personal Particulars Form (PP Form)

PP Form is used for Police Verification Report. This is a part of Application Form No. 1. This can be filled up separately if required by the Passport Office for reverification. In case an applicant has resided at more than one place in last one year, an additional set of PP form for each address/ place has to be filled up.

Introduction About Uttarakhand

Uttarakhand is a state located in the northern part of India. First It was known as Uttaranchal till 2006, Uttarakhand became the 27th state of the Republic of India on November 9, 2000. Uttarakhand borders Tibet to the north, Nepal to the east, and the states of Himachal Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh in the west and south respectively. In January 2007, the name of the state was officially changed from Uttaranchal, now it’s is name Uttarakhand; the provisional capital of Uttarakhand is Dehradun which is also a rail-head and the largest city in the region. The High Court of the state is in Nainital.

Population of Uttarakhand:-

According to 2001 India census, Uttarakhand had a population of approximately of 8.48million. A population exceeding 10 million is expected by the next census of 2011. The native people of Uttarakhand are generally called either Garhwali or Kumauni. Hindus form the majority of the population at 85.0%, Muslims form 12.0%, Sikhs 2.5% and Christians, Buddhists, Jains and others about 0.5%

Uttarakhand has a total geographic area of 51,125 km², of which 93% is mountainous and 64% is covered by forest. Indian National Parks in Uttarakhand include the Jim Corbett National Park (the oldest national park of India) at Ramnagar in Nainital District, Valley of Flowers National Park and Nanda Devi National Park in Chamoli District, Rajaji National Park in Haridwar District, and Govind Pashu Vihar National Park and Gangotri National Park in Uttarkashi District. Most of the northern parts of the state are part of Greater Himalaya ranges, covered by the high Himalayan peaks and glaciers.

The Doon University Bill, 2005 (Uttaranchal Adhiniyam Sankhya 18 of 2005) was passed by the Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly and assented to by the Governor on April 23, 2005. The Act of 2005 enacted to establish Doon University was published in the Uttarakhand Gazette on April 26, 2005. The Headquarters of the University shall be located at Dehradun with the provision that it may establish additional campus(es) at such other place(s) as necessary.

Dr. Gajendra Singh joined as the first Vice Chancellor of Doon University on 15 September 2005. Dr. Singh graduated in 1966 from the G B Pant University of Agriculture & Technology, Pantnagar. He received his Master's degree from the Rutgers – The State University of New Jersey, USA in 1968 and Ph.D. from the University of California, Davis, USA in 1973.
The University would initiate Academic Programmes leading to Bachelors’, Masters’ and Doctoral degrees in various areas of studies.

Tapkeshwar Temple
The temple is situated on the bank of rivulet, in the Garhi Cantt. area. 5.5 kms. from the cit bus stand, the temple is well connected by road.It is named Tapkeshwar as water droplets, originating from a rock, fall on the Shivling placed in the sherine. People in a large numbers participate in the fair organised on the occasion of Shivratri and pay their obeisance to the deity.

Malsi Deer Park
10 kms. from Dehradun, enroute Mussoorie is situated a beautiful developed tourist spot lying at the foot hills of the Shivalik range. Malsi Deer Park is a mini-zoological park comprising of childern's park enveloped by beautiful, natural surroundings. Along with attractive environs the availability of refreshments makes the place an ideal sight -seeing cum picnic spot.

Sahastradhara

Kalanga Monument
Located on the right side of the Dehradun - Sahastradhara route, the Kalanga monuments recalls the story of the bravery of an 180 year old battle between the British and the Gorkhas. Perched on a hill, 1000 feet over the banks of river Rispana, the monument represents the history of the rulers of Garhwal.

Chandrabadni
Situated 7 kms. from Dehradun, on the Dehradun - Delhi road is the famous temple of Chandrabadni (Gautam Kund). According to the mythological beliefs, this spot was inhabited by Maharishi Gautam, his wife and daughter Anjali who are widely worshipped by the people. It is believed that the daughter of heaven - Ganga had manifested herself on this spot which is now popularly known as the Gautam Kund. Every year devotees, in large numbers, take a dip in the holy Kund. 2 kms. away from the main road, located in the midst od Shivalik hills, the place is a beautiful tourist spot.

Tehri Garhwal is one of the largest districts in the hill state of Uttarakhand, India. Its administrative headquarters is at New Tehri. Tehri Garhwal is surrounded by Rudraprayag District in the east, Dehradun District in the west, Uttarkashi District in the north, and Pauri Garhwal District in the south.

The name Tehri has been derived from ‘Trihari’, signifying a place that washes away the three types of sins - sins born out of Mansa, Vacha and Karmana or thought, word and deed, respectively. ‘Garh’ in Hindi means fort.
